Worried about language barrier

I'm English speaking only and am flying into Beijing int. airport and need to get the bullet train to shanghai. I didn't want to pre order the ticket in case my flight is delayed or it takes me longer to get to train station. I was thinking it would be easy for me to find my way out of airport to train station and buy a ticket without Chinese language but now I am not so sure and I'm worried....how difficult is this going to be?

First of all, there are many detailed English signs at Beijing Capital Airport. These will help you find the correct directions easily. There are direct shuttle buses that can take you to the railway stations in the city. As I know, many staffs of the ticket counters can speak simple English. It won't be so difficult for you to purchase the train tickets. Don't worry.
