About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Is a change in Hong Kong allowed when previously staying in Beijing?

I have an Australian passport and will travel from Helsinki to Beijing on one ticket. I will then stay 2 Days in Beijing, and will then travel onwards to Sydney with a change of flight in Hong Kong. Will the fact that I have two separate tickets be an issue, and is a transit in Hong Kong allowed on the 72hr visa in addition to a stay in Beijing?

No need to worry. Two separate tickets are fine. You can still enjoy the 72 hour free transit in Beijing if you travel like Helsinki-Beijing-HK-Sydney.
