Q2 Multiple Entry 10 Year Visa Application

I am an United States citizen with US passport. I have been granted VISA to China in the past. The main purpose for the application is twofold: (1) Visiting friends, and (2) Touring China. Each stay will be within 90 days. What are the requirements for the application? Because I do not know the exact date to make the trip, can I apply the VISA without an airline ticket reservation? What are the requirements for the application?

Q2 type is issued to relatives of Chinese citizens or foreigners with permanent residence in China for a short period of stay (less than 6 months).
If you mean to visit your friends instead of relatives, you are advised to apply for the 10-year tourist L type with multiple entries.
If you have the invitation letter, the airline ticket reservation is not necessary then.
You need to prepare the relevant documents including your passport(valid for at least 1 year) and its copy, the application form, a passport-style photo, and an invitation letter.
