My wife & i are travelling to Chengdu China from Australia for a 6 day visit.

How much is the visa & where to we apply for it ?

The application usually costs AUD109.5 per person.
You can apply for it from the CVASC where you reside.

It appears they charge you what ever they want, for example they will tell you it is $60 for a Australian passport holder, but may charge you double that amount, my wife and I did it our selfs and where Charge $113.50 each, and a note received with the visa actually stated this.
A bit late then because it is already taken out of your account, but it can still be a huge saving on what some companies charge, for example one is suggesting $109 consulate fees, before you pay their handling fees or your visa fee. Which can totals over $200.
