About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Hello, i have US passport. Is this itinerary acceptable for 72hr visa?

Seattle - Shanghai - Bangkok - beijing - Seattle

As I understand the rules, i would be flying in and out lf Bangkok from the US with china as a stop over and therefore valid for 72hr free transit. Is this correct? Thanks

You can have 144 hrs free transit in Shanghai and 72 hours free transit in Beijing.
