What do I need to do when I go to the airport in Shanghai

I am considering an itinerary of LAX-Tokyo-Shanghai-LAX or LAX-Shanghai-Tokyo-LAX. I understand I dont need a visa but what do I do at the airport in Shanghai Do i need a permit once I arrive? What do I need to to do?
