About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

I am flying to chengdu from Thailand and on to Laos

The chengdu - Laos flight has a 5 hour stop in Kumming. Do I qualify if I do not leave Kumming airport.?

Dear, you won't qualify for the 72 hour free transit if you travel like that, but if your total layover in Chengdu and Kunming won't exceed 24 hours, you will be eligible for the 24 hour direct transit. No visa will be required either.
