About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Children requirement

We are flying from Toronto to Hong Kong, but would like to stay over at Shanghai for 3 days (within 72 hours) in between the flight. What kind of documents does my children need to show? Do they only require to show passport or also the birth certificate? Thanks

The passport is the only accepted document. However, if travelling with only one parent, then it is advised to bring a consent letter from the other parent stating that the children are allowed to travel.
