ride a cruise ship

My wife and my daughter will ride a cruise ship thru shanghai. They have a return ticket to the philippines on the same day they disembark the ship. Do they need a transit visa? They holding a philippine passport.

You mean they will disenmbark the ship from Shanghai and will take a plane to the Philippines on the same day? If yes, as long as the stay in China is not more than 24 hours, they do not need the entry permit.
