About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Does it matter if the airlines are different within the trip?

We booked a round trip to Shanghai from Canada with the intention of going to Taiwan mid-trip. Our flight from Canada to Shanghai is with Air Canada. We are then booking the round trip to Taiwan from Shanghai with a different airline ie. China Southern. Will this be an issue with the 144 hr visa exemption?
