I want to visit my girlfriend in China

How much would a visa cost , if I'm only visiting her once and for a week ?

Robert, if you are British and you apply from the UK, the cost would be 151 GBP. No matter how many entries you apply, the cost is the same. So if possible, you can apply for a 2-year multi-entry one.
