Shanghai stay followed by cruise

We are due to fly from UK to Shanghai in August, we are staying for 5 nights before picking up a 6 night cruise around Japan, dock back at Shanghai and catch flight back later that day. Are we still okay for using the 144 free visa? All the details mention flights rather than ships!
Thanks in advance

Of course you are eligible. The Shanghai Immigration website has a dedicated page explaining this.
