What if you don't have a Visa for Shanghai

My daughter and son-in-law are traveling on a cruise ship. They stop in shanghi can they obtain a Visa at the port with a letter of invitation from Disney? Can they fly out of Hong Kong at the end of the cruise?

Debbie, I’m afraid they cannot get a VOA with an invitation letter only, but if they travel to Shanghai (staying for not more than 144 hours) from a country, and then go to HK rather than the last one you come from, they will be able to use the 144 hour free transit in Shanghai, and then no visa will be needed.
