Passport validity, Should I have problem in transit in Hongkong or Shanghai?

For urgent reason (death of my parent), I am traveling from Las Vegas, NV to Guam. I will have a layover in Hongkong and maybe Shanghai in my return flight. My travel dates: Depart 3/18 or 3/19 and back to NV on 3/30. My passport expires on 4/17. I am not leaving the airport during the layovers.
Please advise.
Thanks.

Mari, as you are not leaving the airport during the layovers, I think your passport is fine for this trip. However, if possible, you had better renew your passport.
