Attend to business on L visa

I am traveling to China for 7 days of business and 1 day of leisure. I currently hold a L type. Do I need to reapply for a M type? The company I work for is a major company in the US so I don't want to do them wrong, but I also feel like the legal firm that is helping me apply for a M type is pushing it to get my $$.

You can use the tourist L type for China to do that. No need to apply for s business M type then.
