About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

I am a british citizen was previously a resident in China in 2016 while working there

Hi
but now live and work in Australia with an Australian visa /residence permit and and no longer have any visa or residence permit but the cancelled / expired versions are still in my passport

i have a flight booked from Melbourne to Hong Kong, connecting in airport to flight to Shanghai and then 48 hours later have onward journey to the UK

Can i still enter china on a transit G type even though i previously held a work permit / residence permit for china

You can enjoy the 144 hour free transit in Shanghai if you travel like that. No transit G type will be needed then.
