About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Thailand to China via 1h layover in HK and then to NZ

Hi Guys
Any help gratefully received.
I am travelling from Bangkok to Beijing for 2 days then Beijing to New Zealand. However, both those flights are via Hong Kong where I DONT leave the airport.
Do I qualify for the 72h transit visa or does this count as coming from/returning to same country even though I dont leave the airport/immigration etc?
Many thanks

Anoop, you mean your travel route will be like Bangkok-HK-Shanghai-HK-NZ? If yes, you won’t qualify for the 72 hour free transit in Beijing anymore.

It's irrelevant that you don't leave HK airport. For your routing you must get a Chinese visa in advance or you will be denied boarding in Bangkok.
