Day trip from Beijing to ChengdeCity and Mountain Resort

like to visit Chengde from Beijing for a quick trip to the city and Mountain Resort. We have a very limited time to make a trip . If we leave early in the morning can it be possible to return back in the late evening. what would be the convenient place to catch the bus from Beijing and when the last buss leaves from Chengde to Beijing. Your help in this matter would be greatly apriciated.
