About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Melbourne - Hong Kong (transit) - Shanghai - Hong Kong - Melbourne eligible for 144 hour policy

I will be travelling from Melbourne Australia to Shanghai transiting in Hong Kong for a few hours. Staying in Shanghai from Friday till Tuesday and then catching a flight back to Hong Kong for 5 days and then returning to Melbourne Australia. Would I qualify for the 144 hour free transit because I arrive into Shanghai from Hong Kong and then leave Shanghai back to Hong Kong? I've already had a terrible incident once before and not been allowed to board a flight to China due to visa issues I really do not want it to happen again. Please help!

Tam, no, you won’t qualify for the 144 hour free transit in Shanghai if you travel like that. You should travel like Melbourne - Hong Kong (transit) - Shanghai – Melbourne if you want to enjoy the free transit.
