About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

is the 144 hr visa free valid from Melbourne to Shanghai (via Hong Kong)- Hong Kong - Melbourne ?

I do have an air ticket, however what is meant by confirmed seat? Seats are only allocated 48 hrs before departure.

Ron, sorry, this route is not eligible because it seems you will fly from HK to Shanghai and then to HK. Air ticket with confirmed seat means that the ticket is not a standby ticket.

thanks Frank.
Melb to Shanghai includes a 1 hour transit in Hong Kong only, then from shanghai will fly back to hong kong for 5 nights, then back to melb.
might have to just get a visa
