Visit Shanghai only

Arrive Shanghai 0110 Saturday 13th May 2017 from Australia.
Depart Shanghai 1535 Monday 15th May 2017 for Malaysia. Only stop in China is Shanghai. I have heard that I do not need visa.
Is this correct?
