Transit between 2 european countries?

Is it possible to apply for the 72-Hour Visa-Free Transit if I fly from Frankfurt (Germany) to Shanghai, stay 2 days in Shanghai and fly then back to Vienna (Austria)? I'm holding an Austrian passport.

Germany and Austria are different countries, so yes. You can have 144 hours visa-free transit (as long as you are on non-stop flights Country A - China -Country B).
