How to renew Chinese Passport in Canada

I live near Toronto Canada. I am a Chinese National with a Canadian Permanent Resident card. My Chinese passport is expiring soon. I need to know if I can renew it in Canada. I need to know the procedure and what documents I need to take to the Embassy/Consulate. Also about the passport picture (the size, the background, is it the same size as a Canadian passport picture etc.). The cost and do I need to pay in cash. Is there anywhere to download the application form so I can fill it out ahead of time to save time? Any other helpful information would be appreciated. Do I need to bring my Canadian PR Card and Chinese ID Card and my soon to expire Chinese Passport? Do they keep those items until I pick up my new passport or will they take a copy.

Jing, you should first prepare those documents including your passport and its copy, the application form, 3 recently-taken passport-style photos, documents to prove your Chinese nationality such as Chinese ID card or household book, your Canadian permanent residence permit, and personal statement.
Next, submit the application to the embassy of China to renew your passport.
Usually, it will cost CAD35 for passport renewal. No cash is accepted.
You can download the application form from the official website of the consulate general of China in Toronto.
Usually, the copy of Chinese ID card is enough, but you need to provide the original passport, permanent residence permit and their copies.
