what steps should a student on an x1 type take for registeration

I just got my visa, I'll be headed to china soon. my school is in Liaoning but i will be staying in Beijing for about 2 weeks. Are there any registrations that i have to complete by myself since I'm not going to be headed to school directly?

If you will stay in Beijing, you can check in at a hotel and the hotel may register for you at the police station. You’d better confirm that with the hotel. Please note that you need to apply for the residence permit at the exit and entry administration of the local PSB in Liaoning within 30 days after your entry.
