Teaching English in China with partner

Hi I will be teaching English in China, I am hoping of a one years contract and to extend there-after. My partner [not married] will be with me, he would like to study in China and teach ASAP, I will be applying for a Z working visa, what will my partner need to do? Thank you very much.

Gail, because you two haven’t got married, he cannot apply for an Ss type. But if he will study in China, he can apply for a student X type. After he starts to teach, he can also apply for a work Z type.
