About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Travel to Hong Kong and then later to Guangzhou?

Hello, I was wondering how the 72 hours apply? I know I do not need a china visa in Hong Kong. I would like to plan a vacation to visit Hong Kong, but would want to visit family members in GZ. Does it have to start when I arrived in Hong Kong or can it be staying 3 days in Hong Kong and then to go to GZ? Thanks.

WM, if you fly to Guangzhou from HK and stay there for not more than 144 hours, after, fly to a third country or region rather than HK, you will be able to use the 144 hour free transit in Guangzhou to visit your family members.

72 hours in Guangzhou (starting at 00:01 on the day after arrival) not 144.
