About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

is it possible to have more than one free transit visa within a couple of weeks.

We'll be flying from London to Taipei via Beijing and the layover time is 15 hours so we would like to go in to the city. We would also like to use the 72 hours free transit in Beijing on our way back home, so we can spend some more time in China. Would this be possible? Does the 72h free transit only apply if you have a long layover time or also if you arrive say 2 days before the actual flight back to London?

Guido, yes, it is possible. If you travel like that, you can enjoy the 24 hour direct transit and 72 hour free transit in Beijing.

Dear Oliver,
Are you sure about this? I guess Taipei is considered China, so there's no third country involved. Or am I wrong? Do Chinese officials consider Taipei as being in a third region?

Tom, I’m sure. Taipei will be considered as a third region when speaking of the 144 hour free transit. No need to worry!
