About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

144visa

We are arriving on a cruise in Shanghai staying 2 days in hotel then flying out of Pudong airport. Do we qualify for this free transit and is it available in advance or do we just fill it in on the plane or boat? Answers on websites seem to state you have to arrive and depart the same way

Dear, you don't have to arrive and depart the same way. It's allowed to enter by cruise and leave by plane. You qualify for the free transit policy. Before your arrival, you just need to tell the staff on the boat that you intend to use the 144hrs free transit and they will inform this to Shanghai Immigration Aministration.
