About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

I will be flying from Laos to Canada, with a layover in China

I have two connecting flights with no more than a 5 hour layover. I will not be leaving the airport. I first fly to Kunming and get a connecting flight to Shanghai and then in Shanghai connect to a flight to Canada. Am I required to obtain a visa in China?

No, you don't need it because you are eligible for the 24h direct transit policy.
