About:Embassy of Portugal in China

Birth certificate for Shanghai China in 1921

I am seeking a copy of the birth certificate for my mother who was born in Shanghai as well as a copy of her Marriage Certificate to a Russian citizen residing in China. While born in Shanghai, China, my mother was of Portuguese descent. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Well, I'm afraid it's very difficult to get a copy of her birth certificate. If I got it right, beofre 1949, China does not issue birth certificate. If you do need it, you can contact the hopistal where your mum was born, but it seems very hard as it's a long time ago.

Do you know if your mother was registered in the Portuguese Consulate of Shanghai at that time? If you have any paper work that shows she was registered there, you might be able to try the Archives in Lisbon.
