How to get a visa to visit Russia as a NZ resident working in Beijing

Hi. I am currently a NZer living and working in Beijing. I am flying into Moscow for a four day holiday on my way to France. I am not booked through a tour group or company and am staying at a privately rented home. How do I go about getting my visa? Do I apply for a tourist visa? And how do I get the 'letter' that is required as part of the documentation if I have organised the trip privately? Hoping you can help. Ciao, Maree

Maree, I’m afraid you need to apply for a tourist visa. You should first prepare your passport and copy of its data page, a recently-taken bareheaded color photo, the completed application form, an invitation letter from a Russian travel agency, and round trip air tickets, as well as your residence permit in China. Maybe you can find an agency to help you get the invitation letter from a Russian travel agency. You can contact with the embassy of Russia to learn about more details.

Thanks Edison. I am staying at an Air BnB so might ask the 'landlord' if they can help with the invitation letter ... Or must it be from a travel agency?
