About:FAQ of Chinese Visa Application

shanghai 16-hour layover

Can I go into the city for 12 hours? Will I need an arrival departure card? Will I have to take my luggage for customs or can I just go into the city luggage-less with my bags continuing on to my final stop? I want the least amount of hassle of course and arrival/departure cards, checked luggage and exit fees are not interesting. Thank you (xie-xie)

Frank, you can go into the city for 12 hours. The arrival and departure card is required. You can fill it on the plane before arrival. If you use a one-way ticket, it's very likely your luggage will be delivered to the final destination. You can confirm this with your airline. The visa-free transit service does not charge passengers.
