About:China Visa Application in USA

I am in Missouri but my son lives in D.C.

I was going to have him drop off and pick up Visa for me at embassy in D.C. Can we do that or do I have to go through the Chicago office since I live in Missouri?
Thanks

Tommle, if you don’t have residence permit in D.C., I’m afraid you may not be able to apply from there. You should apply from the consulate general of China in Chicago.
