About:FAQ of Chinese Visa Application

I currently have a Chinese business M type that expires in Jul 2018,

however my passport expires in April 2017. Is there a minimum requirement of time to be left on your passport before entering Beijing (i.e. 6 months) even if you are leaving China in advance of passport expiration? I'm planning to go in January 2017.

Also when i renew my passport, do i need to get a new chinese visa or can I show my valid visa in my expired passport, when entering on my new passport?

I don't think China has that rule, although you're definitely encouraged to renew your passport early since some airlines may deny you from boarding. You can travel with both your new passport and the old passport with the valid visa on it.
