About:China Visa Exemption

Tokyo - Shangai - Osaka for French and Romanian citizens

Hi
Could you please help us, we are confused. We are a French and Romanian citizen. We will spend holidays in Japan and would like to do a round trip for 4 days Tokyo - Shangai - Osaka.
It is not exactly a transit as we are coming back to the same country.

Do we need a visa ?
Thank you kindly,
Alina
