Travelling from Auckland to Mumbai via Beijing with a family of 5

I am travelling from Auckland to Mumbai via Beijing with a family of 5. I have a stop over of 13 hours in Beijing. Am I allowed to tour Beijing and can I leave the airport with my family as we have New Zealand Residency and Indian Passports.

Do I need a transit visa or any other document?

You should qualify for the 24-hour TWOV, however Beijing is the only airport with direct international connection so normally people will not even need the 24-hour entry permit. Contact your airline to see if they can offer any hotels, then you will have a better chance to leave the airport.
