About:Chinese Embassy in Malaysia

Visit Shanghai from Malaysia

I am Malaysian passport holder. Wish to visit Shanghai for 30 days or more. Do I need visa for travelling? What type of visa?

Is there a different visa for visiting less than 30 days and more than 30 days?
How and where to apply.
Please kindly advise.

Cordelia, yes, you need it for traveling. You can apply for a tourist L type if you go there for sightseeing purpose.
Actually, how long you can stay in China mainly depends on how long you actually need and the final decision is up to the consular officers.
You should prepare your passport and its copy, the application form, a passport-style photo, round trip air tickets and hotel reservation. And then submit the application to the CVASC to apply for the tourist L type.
