About:Leshan Giant Buddha

Chengdu to Leshan Buddha... which transport combi makes more sense?

Hi... we will be traveling from Chunxi road area to visit the Buddha.

I understand from the above answers that if we take highspeed train to LS, we are still quite a distance to the Giant Buddha. The long distance bus takes a longer time to get to LS but more frequent than trains. Is the bus station (Xiaoba) at LS closer to the Buddha? How long will the public bus take from Xiaoba Station to the Giant Buddha?

Also... if we take train... we can take a MRT ride to Railway station. But if we take bus, we need to take a taxi to XinNanMien.

So the combination is getting rather confusing. Which mode would you recommend to reach Leshan Giant Buddha?

1) MRT => HighSpeed Train => Public Bus
2) Taxi => Long Distance Bus => Public Bus

Which transport options makes more sense, cost wise and time wise?

Appreciate your advice. Thank you.

1). Take metro line 2 from Chunxi Road Station to East Railway Station (about 15 minutes). Next, take a bullet train to Leshan (LS). The train ride takes about 1 hour, and the frequecy is about 30 to 60 minutes. A second class seat costs CNY 54; a first class seat costs CNY 65. Upon arrival, the railway station is about 8 miles (13km) from the Buddha. Take bus LS Railway Station- Oriental Buddha Capital Line to the Buddha. The bus ride takes about 40 minutes, and the fare is CNY 1.

2). Take a taxi to Xinnanmen Bus Station for CNY 8 (about 5 minutes). Or, take metro line 3 from Chunxi Road Station to Xinnanmen Station for CNY 2 (about 2 minutes). Next, take a bus to LS for CNY 45 or 51 (about 2 hours). The frequecy is about 30 minutes. The Xiaoba Bus Station is about 5 miles (8km) from the Buddha. Take bus line 13 to reach the Buddha from Xiaoba Bus Station. The bus ride takes about 35 minutes, and the fare is CNY 1.

You are advised to choose the first mode of transport. Have fun! ;)

Thank you very much!

Do you know if there is anything near the LS Train Station? I wanted to get the return train tickets in advance but worry that if we come back from Giant Buddha visit too early... we have to wait awhile at the train station. Hopefully we can at least go eat a late lunch nearby but I have googled on LS Train Station area... so far found very little information.

Yes! There are many restaurants, eateries, cafes and bars near LS Railway Station. You can have hot pot, fast food, western food, and Chinese dishes there. Or, just drink something, and wait for your train. :)
