About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

US Citizen hopping around Asia

I'm a US citizen and will be flying from Hong Kong to Shanghai then to Tokyo, I will be in Shanghai for almost 3 days and 2 nights. How do I obtain the 72 hour visa, it is a bit confusing. :(

Janice, when you board the plane in HK, you need to inform the airlines that you want to use the free transit in Shanghai. After arriving at Shanghai airport, you can follow the direction signs to the transit counter to apply for the free transit. It is easy.
