About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Hello, if someone was doing London-Shanghai-Beijing-Manila

and they were in Shanghai and Beijing for less than 72 hours is this OK? so they are in Shanghai for 23hrs and Beijing for 11hrs? can you do two china cities on the 72 hour visa? thank you

Emily, no, they cannot enjoy the free transit any more if they travel like that because they will transit in both Shanghai and Beijing. If they can make a travel like London-Shanghai-HK-Beijing-Manila, they will be able to make use of the free transit in Shanghai and Beijing respectively.

you say if I were to do London-Shanghai-Hong Kong-Manila I could use the 72 hour visa? Could I fly from Shanghai to Hong Kong Monday night then get a connection flight from Hong Kong to Beijing or do I need to stay in HK for a night and then fly to Beijing for it to work? thanks

Hi Amanda, can you confirm whether its ok to do the 72 hour visa for London-shanghai-hong kong-bejing-manila? I rung our visa company and they said its not possible to do this route on the 72 hour visa as your are entering china twice? please confirm?

You can have two free transits without visa. One is London-Shanghai-Hong Kong and the other is Hong Kong-Beijing-Manila. Back-to-back is fine, you don't even need to stay a night in Hong Kong. Just make sure you are staying less than 72 hours in Beijing and less than 144 hours in Shanghai and your flights have no intermediate stops in China. Of course, your visa company is in the business of selling visas.
