5 day visit to shanghai

I'm visiting shanghai for 5 days, i'm not on any organised tour, what visa is required? and where can i find the corect information so I am not denied access or have issues on arrival..

If you go there for tourism purpose, you can just apply for a tourist L type entry permit.
Or if you an Australian passport, you can make a travel like Australia-Shanghai-HK-Australia and flight all the way. In this case, you will be able to enjoy the 144 hour free transit in Shanghai, and then no need to apply for an entry permit.
