About:Chinese Consulate in Montreal

My wife and I are holders of Canadian passports issued in Quebec. We are considering a world cruise.

on Holland America starting Jan.4,2016. The ship stops in Beijing Feb.22 for 36 hours and Feb. 26 in Shanghai for 36 hours. Do we require visas for visas for this trip?

You need to apply for a visa for its 36-hour stopover in Beijing.
As for Shanghai stop, if the cruise ship will sail to a third country or region rather than the last you come from, you may be able to enjoy the 144 hour free transit in Shanghai, but you’d better double check that with the cruise ship company. Nice trip!
