About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

In transit in Shanghai and Kunming to Kathmandu

There is no Nepalese Embassy in New Zealand, it is difficult to apply for an visitor visa to Nepal before arrival. I hold a New Zealand passport, thus I can apply for an VOA in Kathmandu airport, Nepal. Do I need an Nepalese entry permit to apply for Free Transit in Shanghai and Kunming? Thanks

Peter, in principle, you need to provide Nepal entry permit to apply for free transit in Shanghai, but it is not necessary. Sometimes, you can still get the free transit as long as you have valid air tickets and passport.
