Well, there is no subway service between them, and most taxi drivers won't go to such a faraway place. There are two modes of transport for you:
By Train: take subway line 2 from East Nanjing Road Station to People's Square Station, and then switch to metro line 1 to SH Railway Station. Then, take a bullet train to Suzhou Railway Station (about 30 minutes). Upon arrival, take a taxi to the garden for about CNY 15.
By Bus: take subway line 2 from East Nanjing Road Station to People's Square Station, and then switch to metro line 1 to SH Railway Station. Then, take a bus to Suzhou from the nearby General Bus Station (about 1.5 hours). Upon arrival, take a taxi to the garden for about CNY 25 to 30.
