About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Fly Oman to Guangzhou and back to reach Hongkong

Hi,
I'm going to Hongkong with Oman air. Since they only fly Guangzhou I now booked a flight to and back from Guangzhou. My intention is to stay a weekend in Guangzhou then go to Hongkong for the conference of 5 days then go back to Guangzhou and fly from there to Oman.
Can I use the 72 hours visa vor this?

Dear, if you will fly from Guangzhou to HK, and then fly back to Guangzhou, you can use the 72h free transit rule twice for the stay in Guangzhou.

Many thanks for the quick reply.
What if I was planning to use the train to Hongkong and back since it is only 2 hours distance?

The 72 hour policy is only applicable to flight travelers, so if you will take the train to HK, I’m afraid you won’t qualify for the 72 hour free transit.
