About:China Transit Visa

layover in Beijing for 21hours, want to go out of the airport

Hi, I'm flying to NewYork from Vietnam, layover in Beijing for 21hours. I want to go out of the airport to visit the great walls. Does 24hours free transit applicable to Vietnamese passport holder? Thanks

Leah, you are eligible for the 24 hour direct transit in Beijing. You can apply for a temporary stay permit at Beijing airport, and then you can go out of the airport to visit the Great Wall. The temporary stay permit is free of charge.

Thank you so much for your response. Unfortunately today, United Airline just changed my booking so the layover time now is 25hrs...

I want to go outside the transit area to visit the Walls. In this case, do I have to apply for Transit Visa? I'm holding Vietnamese Passport.

Leah, if so, you need to apply for a transit visa ahead of your trip.
