About:China Consulate in Houston

On the visa application it asks for detailed addresses and dates.

Can this be "tentative" being that we don't want to book our trip until we receive our visas.

Question 2.8 on the application asks information of the inviter in China and relationship, we have a business relationship, however we are going as tourist, which Visa should we apply for, the business or the tourist? Thank you!

Yes, these addresses and dates can be tentative. You can just fill in a rough itinerary in the blank. You should apply for a tourist L type because you go as tourists. You can still fill in your inviter's information. If you don't want to buy tickets and book hotels before getting the L type, I advise you to fill the address with your inviter's address.
