About:China Visa Exemption

I am flying from Taipei to Hong Kong

Hello,
I am Alice, a US citizen with US passport and I want to fly from Taipei to Hong Kong round trip ticket, I would like to go to Guangzhou for a short visit, do I qualify for 72 hour free transit Visa?

Alice, if you mean to fly from HK to Guangzhou and back to HK to return to Taipei, you do not qualify for the 72hrs free transit policy. If you fly from HK to Guangzhou and then to Taipei or to a country or region different from HK before going back to Taipei, you may qualify for this.

Hi Rachel,
Thanks for answering. I just want to clarify that
I would like to fly from Taipei to HK on 11/25, then take train from HK to Guangzhou, spend a night in GZ. Then take train from Guangzhou to HK on 11/26.
11/27 Flying from HK to Taipei.
I won't be able to qualify for 72 hour free transit?
