About:China Visa on Arrival

Can I apply for a tourist visa in person while in Hong Kong?

My return flight to the US departs from Hong Kong. And I'm planning to visit for 6 days. So I'm wondering if I can apply for a Tourist (L) type in Hong Kong while I'm there to plan ahead for the next trip into Mainland China? Since I live in Seattle, I understand I would need to go to San Francisco, or Los Angeles in person. Or use an agent.

Tom, I’m afraid it’s not easy for you to apply for a tourist L type for mainland PRC because you just stay there for 6 days and don’t have HK residence permit. You are advised to apply for it one month earlier before your trip in your home country.
