On the way home am I able to do the 72 hour free transit in Shanghai if I do not leave the Airport in Kunming? Fly from Kathmandu, change planes in Kunming then layover in Shanghai 49 hours then flight to Canada.On the way to Kathmandu we have a longer layover in Kunming (13 hours) am I able to use the 72 hour Visa 2 times which would be 15 days apart?

Steacy, when you return, I’m afraid not because you will stop in both Kunming and Shanghai. You need to apply for a transit G type or tourist L type entry permit in advance. On yoru way to Kathmandu, you can enjoy the 24 hour direct transit in Kunming and no entry permit is required then. Nice trip.
